Happy New Year
After a nice relaxing Christmas break we are back to work…..starting with this Hallway/Landing/Staircase.
Lots of prep on the walls and ceilings as the previous owner had really sloshed the paint on!
Now all refreshed and ready for the new carpets.
Walls painted in Farrow & Ball Strong White and ceilings in Johnstone’s Perfect Matt.
Merry Christmas
For our last job of the year we have come to rural Penshurst in Kent.
This living room needed freshening up and keeping a cosy but up to date feel so the client opted for Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue.
We were fed well here just to make sure we got the job completed in time, so plenty of bacon sandwiches and mince pies.
All Paint used was Johnstone’s trade, Perfect Matt for the ceiling, satin on the woodwork and cleanable matt for the walls.
Dunkirk revisited part 2
So we couldn’t fit all the photos into part 1 hence part 2.
We gave the entrance hall a makeover, with a nice colour change in keeping with the property.
The oak front door had split and cracked badly meaning we had to burn most of the existing paint away and a lot of sand it down, the door was filled where required and a good oil based adhesion primer used before we applied x 2 coats of Farrow & Ball exterior eggshell.
All paints used are Farrow & Ball and the colours are: Sulking Room Pink, Matchstick and Dix Blue.

Dunkirk revisited part 1
Last year we had the pleasure of decorating the newly converted bell tower of this Grade II listed church which itself is converted into a family home.
This time we have returned to refresh the main living areas.
The ceiling is the largest we have done to date, it had cracks running through and areas of plaster falling away where there had been water leaks, we sanded the whole ceiling filled and stain blocked all the damaged areas then sealed them, we then painted 2 coats of Johnstone’s perfect matt to achieve the perfect look.
All walls were repaired in the same way with a Farrow & Ball Colour scheme in a modern emulsion.
Colours used are Pointing, Blue Grey, Setting Plaster, Oxford Stone and Matchstick.

This island we hand painted in a fine roller finish and making this a beautiful stand out feature of this large kitchen.
Colour is Olive by Neptune paints.

Entrance Hall/Landing & Staicase
When our client moved into their new home they were desperate to get rid of the grubby and stained wallpaper adorning their walls and we were more than happy to help them out.
We stripped away the old wallpaper, prepped and filled all the walls until we were satisfied that when lined they would have a great finish.
The walls were lined with a 1400 grade lining paper then walls and ceilings were painted in Johnstone’s trade vinyl matt brilliant white emulsion, all wood work was prepped, filled, caulked and primed and then finished with 2 coats of Johnstone’s trade oil based satin finish in brilliant white.

Boot Room
This bespoke cabinetry built by James Knight Interiors in the property’s boot room was prepared and hand painted by ourselves in a fine roller finish using Little Greene Windmill Lane in Intelligent Eggshell.

Home Office
We have been experiencing a fast change and evolution in our lives due to the pandemic, more people working from home thus needing to create a space for our working environments.
This home office designed and built by James Knight Interiors and hand painted by ourselves in a fine roller finish.
Colour is House White by Farrow & Ball mixed in Tikkurila Helmi 80.

Last full exterior of the year...from Drab…to Fab!
This property in Tunbridge Wells was looking very worn an weathered, we turned it around with a full fungicidal wash, repaired and filled all the cracks and sealed,
Walls were painted in Johnstone’s Stormsheild mixed to match Sanderson Whitstable Blue, the surrounds painted in Dulux Weathershield pure brilliant white.
We primed the fence with Zinsser bullseye 123 then followed with 2 coats of Zinsser Allcoat Satin white.

Still searching for summer
Weather wasn’t the only delay with this one….we had to search the whole country to get the paint!
But finally we got our 2nd exterior of the year completed.
This property in Crowborough, East Sussex was looking very tired, covered in mould and algae growth and very weathered , the timbers were very dry and the paint in many places barely holding on.
We set about by spraying the whole house in a fungicide then the next day we jet washed everything, this took a lot of the paint off the timbers back to bare wood and what the jet washer didn’t remove the elbow grease with the aid of sandpaper did.
All the render and timber was painted in Zinsser Allcoat Matt finish.

First exterior of the year completed.
We started this exterior in Wadhurst, East Sussex in early May……then came the rain!……then the hail!……then the thunderstorms!…..then the strong winds!….but finally the sun got his hat on!

This large kitchen with a vaulted ceiling was a tricky one ….but not a problem for us!
Ceilings and end walls were painted in Johnstone’s cleanable matt brilliant white.
Side walls were painted in Johnstone’s cleanable matt matched to Farrow and Ball Strong White.
All kitchen cabinets were hand painted in Johnstone’s oil based eggshell to match Farrow & Ball Hague Blue.

Church bell tower conversion
We recently finished decorating this bell tower conversion for Colston homes in Dunkirk, Kent.
Small rooms making it a tricky job working around the tools and furniture but keeping us fit up and down the staircase continuously.
A truly stunning conversion with access to the roof terrace which gives amazing views from the Kent country side to the Kent coast.
